Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive as well as a 9-inch rear axle. Cooling is handled by an oversized aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. The replacement 496ci stroker V8 was installed under previous ownership and features a Holley Sniper EFI system, a high-rise aluminum intake manifold, an MSD electronic ignition and distributor, a polished CVF serpentine drive system, Patriot exhaust headers, and black-finished valve covers. The digital odometer indicates 4k miles, approximately 15 of which were added by the selling dealer. The billet three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilt Ididit steering column and frames an AutoMeter speedometer, tachometer, and fuel level gauge. The wiring harness is said to have been replaced under previous ownership. Equipment includes air conditioning, carbon fiber accents, retractable shoulder belts, polished door sill plates, vent windows, and a retro-style digital stereo. The cabin features a bench seat that was reupholstered in black leather along with a matching dashboard, headliner, carpets, and door panels. The brake lines and body mounts are said to have been replaced under previous ownership. Braking is handled by a Hydroboost power brake system with Wilwood calipers over 14″ discs at all four corners. The truck is fitted with tubular front control arms, a four-link rear suspension, front and rear sway bars, power steering, and UMI rear control arms. The 18 and 20″ chrome Boyd Coddington wheels are mounted with Toyo Extensa HP II tires measuring 225/50 up front and 275/40 out back. Equipment includes a cowl induction hood, black grille, SS396 badging, chrome bumpers, body side moldings, a bed tonneau cover, and dual exhaust outlets that exit below the rear bumper. The body is finished in turquoise and black and is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. This El Camino is now offered with a clean Missouri title. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2022 after being modified under previous ownership with a 9-inch rear axle, tubular front control arms, a four-link rear suspension, and front and rear sway bars as well as 14″ Wilwood front and rear disc brakes, 18 and 20″ Boyd Coddington wheels, updated air conditioning, a retro-style digital stereo, Holley Sniper EFI system, and a polished CVF serpentine drive system. The paint looks good from 20 feet but upon closer inspection, the prep work was lacking. The frame is excellent and the body is good, it does have rust in the normal El Camino spot behind the drivers seat. The interior is good with a new dash pad and new carpet. It rides and drives very good and tight, firm with no rattles. It also has an aluminum radiator and electric fan, plus power steering. 040 over, edlebrock carb and intake, aluminum edlebrock heads, new gas tank and sending unit, serpentine belt set up, turbo 400 transmission, 3:73 gears, new tires and wheels, new front fender trim, new battery, new side trim, new pro car seats and brackets, new dash lights, center console and new shifter, new fog lights, new aluminum trans pan gasket, new body emblems, new tach and gauges, new door weather strip, new steering wheel, new mini starter, new mirrors, K&N high flow air filter, new mirrors, new flow master 40's mufflers, new 2 ½” exhaust pipes. 'He drives a El-frickin-camino, thats like the Cadillac of cars' Earl Hickey. 4 door Chevelle doors are probably 10 inches too short and 4 door door frames are square while Elcamino doors have a curved frame. It has a new steel Cowl hood with new hood hinges, new body bushings, drag bags (not sure what this is), new 4 wheel power disc brake set up, paint is two years old, Helwig sway bars front and rear, new springs front and rear, bilstien shocks, 350 v-8. 2 door 68-69 Chevelle doors and 68-72 Elcamino doors are EXACTLY the same length. I will list the mods by the previous owner and the most recent owner. The VIN number is #134808Z153150 decode 1 chevrolet, 34 V-8 elcamino, 80 two door, Z Freemont assembly plant, 153150 sequence #. This is a good running driver quality ElCamino. You are looking at a 1968 Chevrolet El Camino with a lot of upgrades that I will highlight below.
